Guest and parent testimonials from Night to Shine Modesto
Buddy/Guest Interaction
“It was my son first time attending, and I’m so glad that he gave it a chance. I’ve never seen him happier. He loved every aspect from the music to the food to the limo rides. He truly felt like the king that I know him to be. His buddy was just amazing. She was kind, patient and FUN. I appreciate the effort of every person who assisted in putting this event together. I’ve been inspired to volunteer as a buddy next year. THANK YOU ALL!!” -Parent of 2024 Guest

“Everything was amazing! The caretaker dinner and entertainment was great. The comedian was so funny and John’s story was very inspiring. I love what they are both doing. I also liked the community outreach information given. My son was super excited about the entire experience at Shelter Cove.” – Parent who attended the Banquet

What are the parents/caregivers supposed to do during the event?
Once your prom guest has checked in and been assigned a buddy, parents and caregivers are invited to enjoy our Parent & Caretaker Banquet at Big Valley Grace (4040 Tully Rd., Modesto). This serene space offers food, conversation, entertainment, and more while your King or Queen enjoys the prom! Each prom guest is allowed up to two parents or caregivers to attend. You can register for the banquet when completing the guest registration. Please note that space is limited and may fill up quickly, but you can inquire about last-minute availability at guest check-in on the event night.
What are the prom guests going to be doing all night?
After check-in, the prom guest will be escorted by their buddy down the red carpet, they’ll have the option to receive a corsage or boutonniere, optional hair/makeup/nails, or a shoeshine. Then they may take a short limo ride around the property and make another red-carpet entrance! All evening the dance floor will be open and, the DJ will keep everyone moving! A buffet dinner will be available all evening. There will be lots of photo opportunities throughout the night and karaoke on a jumbo-tron! For any guest who needs a quieter space or just a short break, we will have a sensory experience area with calming activities and low lighting available. Medical and security teams will be on campus for the duration of the event in case of an emergency.
What if my guest has allergies?
You will be asked on the registration form about any food, pet, or other allergies. This information you provide on registration will also be on the back of your guest’s nametag so there Buddy will be prepared to make their night awesome! Any potential food allergy information will be posted at the dinner buffet for all menu items and Buddies will be checking their guests information card for medical needs/allergies/restrictions, etc.
What should the prom guest wear?
This is a special night so they can be as dressy (prom dress, suit and tie, tuxedo) or as casual as they want. We just want them to be comfortable and enjoy themselves.
